For Women—and the Men Who Love Them

Men, don’t scroll past this. Whether it’s your partner, mother, sister, friend, coworker—or even your future self if you’re reading this for the women in your life—menopause is not just a “women’s issue.” It’s a family issue, a workplace issue, and a relationship issue. If a woman you care about is going through it, you’re going through it too.

That’s why I asked my husband to speak out on my YouTube channel, Crazy Sexy Menopause, sharing how men can support the women they love during menopause. Because trust me: shift happens, and understanding what’s going on can make the difference between compassion and confusion.

Menopause by the Numbers

Here’s what most people don’t know:

  • Women spend about one-third of their lives in menopause.
  • Over 6,000 women enter menopause every day—that’s more than 2 million per year.
  • In the U.S. alone, there are approximately 75 million women navigating peri- or post-menopause.

And yet, menopause remains one of the least understood life transitions, even though estrogen affects nearly every system in a woman’s body.

The Real Shifts of Menopause

Menopause doesn’t just mean “no more periods.” It’s a full-body recalibration.

Here’s how it affects key systems:

  • Reproductive system: Menstruation stops—but that’s just the start.
  • Endocrine system: Estrogen decline impacts the breasts, bones, blood vessels, digestive tract, and even your skin.
  • Nervous system: Mood swings, anxiety, irritability, and brain fog become common.
  • Immune and excretory systems: Hello, bladder leakage and recurrent UTIs.
  • Musculoskeletal system: You may notice joint pain, loss of muscle, and decreased bone density.
  • Cardiovascular system: Heart disease risk increases as protective hormones decline.

Other changes include:

  • Hot flashes, night sweats, and sleep disruption
  • Weight gain and changes in body composition
  • Vaginal dryness and painful intercourse
  • Emotional disconnection or irritability with partners

Yes, a lot is happening inside her body—and half the time, she’s as surprised by it as you are.

Food Is Fuel for the Shift

The food we eat can ease or exacerbate menopausal symptoms. Spicy meals, processed sugars, and alcohol may trigger hot flashes and night sweats. Bread and sodium-rich foods can cause bloating, inflammation, and stubborn scale numbers.

True story: I was hitting my macros like a pro—but it wasn’t until I reduced my sodium below 1500mg/day that the scale started moving and my body leaned out.

Eating mostly whole foods nourishes the brain, bones, muscles, and hormones. Think of water as oil for your engine—would you drive your car without it? Then don’t expect your joints or digestion to thrive when you’re dehydrated.

And yes, hydration matters for everything from night sweats to brain clarity.

What to Eat During Menopause

To balance blood sugar and reduce inflammation:

  • Slow carbs: oats, brown rice, lentils, root veggies
  • Proteins: eggs, fish, nuts, tofu, seeds
  • Healthy fats: olive oil, avocados, coconut, seeds
  • Fiber: dark leafy greens, berries, nuts, beans

Phytoestrogen-rich foods that may help:

  • Flaxseeds
  • Chickpeas, lentils, mung beans
  • Organic soy (tofu, tempeh, miso) if tolerated

Critical menopause nutrients:

  • Choline (eggs, salmon, soy, quinoa): boosts brain and energy
  • Omega-3s (flaxseeds, fish): reduce inflammation
  • Magnesium (greens, oats, beans, nuts): calms mood, aids sleep
  • Zinc (pumpkin seeds, meat, cashews): improves brain health
  • Vitamin E (sunflower seeds, avocado): supports vaginal health
  • Vitamin D + K2: protect bones and immune function

Check with your healthcare provider to assess nutrient levels and supplement smartly.

Mindset Shift: Grace > Grit

Menopause is not a personal failure. It’s a biological rite of passage. But the cultural silence around it often makes women feel confused, ashamed, or like they’re “losing it.”

Here’s your reminder: you’re not broken. You’re evolving.

Now’s the time to ditch perfection, and love your whole self—stretch marks, soft belly, strong spirit, and all.

Take a moment today to stand in the mirror and say: “Thank you, body, for getting me this far. I love you.”

Understanding creates connection. That’s why I asked my husband to create a video on how men can support the women in their lives going through menopause.

With awareness, supportive habits, and compassion for your changing body, you can step into this next phase feeling stronger, smarter, and more sovereign than ever.

Yes, shift happens. But you get to decide how you show up for it.
